Rockstar Volunteers Wanted

Ever wonder how our festival becomes greener than all the rest? It comes to life with the power of volunteers! That’s why we affectionately refer to our volunteers as “Rockstars.” We couldn’t have a successful event without your help! So what do you say? Do you want to represent us as a Rockstar? Your assignment will depend on your availability, specific skills and overall enthusiasm to work with a smile.

ROCKSTAR QUALITIES

Volunteering is a commitment, but it is incredibly rewarding work.  Volunteering might be good for you if you answer “Yes” to all of the following:

  • You’re 18 years of age or older

  • Willing to work a minimum 4 hour shift

  • Excited to work with a team

  • Don’t mind getting your hands dirty

  • Organized, responsible, trustworthy

  • Take your commitments seriously and are prompt with time commitments

  • Have a genuine interest in being a part of a zero waste event

ROCKSTAR PROGRAM SCHEDULE

 

Volunteer Opportunities

 

Set-Up Friday - September 8, 2017

  • Shifts will be scheduled 9am to 3pm

  • You will help us with final prodcution efforts to get ready for the festival

 

The Festival - September 9, 2017

Shifts will begin at Noon and go until Midnight

Duties will consist of:

  • assisting with ticket duties

  • assisting with vendors/sponsors

  • clean and green team

  • hosting eco-tours

  • miscellaneous jobs as assigned

 

Tear Down - September 10, 2017

Shifts will be 9am to 3pm

  • You will help us dismantle the festival and clean up the grounds

ROCKSTAR DEPOSIT – REQUIRED & FULLY REFUNDABLE

When you are assigned to a position, a Rockstar Deposit of $50 required in order to volunteer. This $50 deposit is fully refundable – upon successful completion of your assigned shift.
 

All deposits will be reimbursed 7 days after the event. Once you are scheduled, Rock the Green will provide a link to you for the deposit and you will need to make your deposit in order to confirm your shift at the festival.

Interns Wanted

WHAT:

Rock the Green, a 501(c) (3) organization and a sustainability festival taking place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Reed Street Yards, Walker’s Point. Our mission is to educate and empower the community to take eco-actionable steps to live, work and play by showcasing sustainability innovators and best practices. 

 

WHEN:

Now - September 30, 2017. Timing: 10 hours per week minimum (with 60 hours required the week of the event) in the RTG executive director's office, hours worked are flexible but need to be consistent. Somewhat flexible for summer travel or other activities. Unpaid position.

 

ROLE OF THE INTERN:

  • Administrative responsibilities such as office support, weekly status reports & simple budget tracking

  • Assist with program production plans, timelines and schedules

  • Attend various Rock the Green meetings to listen & learn. Typical meetings may take place with business sponsors, various departments of the City and County, media outlets and more. Meetings will be focused on the event production, talent (bands) arrangements, communications/marketing, near-zero waste efforts, sponsorship sales, and more.

  • Assist in miscellaneous event production, marketing and promotion tasks as they arise

 

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Detail-oriented, well-organized; strong time management skills; responsible and reliable

  • High degree of professionalism; ability to handle confidential information

  • Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel

  • Interest in Music, Marketing and Media with an emphasis on Social Media

  • Out-of-the-box, creative thinker with an enthusiastic attitude

  • Have own transportation & laptop

  • Preferred: Knowledgeable in the green/sustainability space & social media

 

Upon successful completion of the internship, Executive Director will write a letter of recommendation and serve as a reference.
